What is a creator niche?
Do you want to get started in content creation, but don’t know what kind to make yet? You’ll have to find your niche! A content niche is a specific topic or area of focus that a content creator specializes in. This is usually a unique perspective or angle that sets the creator apart from others in the same field.
Why it’s important
You might be wondering why you need a niche in the first place - the benefits of focusing on your niche include improved monezation opportunities because brands and fans know where to find you, it’s easier on your to find topics and an audience, and you have the ability to make a greater impact focusing on what you passionate about. It also makes you more memorable!
How do you find your niche?
Your niche is basically your vibe, and contrary to what you might believe, it’s pretty easy to find. YOU are at the center of it and you already have everything you need!
Examples of niches include:
- Something you know or are an expert in
- Something you’ve experienced that gives you a unique perspective on a topic
- People you know and can be involved in your content, for example, special guests you can invite to interview
- Unique angles on common topics
- A personal experience or journey (i.e. your attempt at remodeling your house by yourself, learning how to bake, or getting something that you want in life)
How to Get Started:
As a rule, the best way to kick things off is always to start creating - pick one (or two!) niches and only post content that aligns with your vibe. If your social media consists of several niches, the chaos will make it harder to grow. There are no specific niches that determine your success, but when it’s one you’re passionate about, it shows up in your work and attracts a bigger audience.
You want to choose something you’re obsessed with creating even if it doesn’t give you a steady income right away. This is particularly the case if you’re starting off as a content creator. Even if it doesn’t generate money right away, keep on keeping on! If you’re doing something you enjoy and stay consistent with your content, the right audience will find you.
